Oh Baby, Baby

I am so excited. I got a call yesterday from a Canon staff informing me that the 450D stocks came in already. *did you hear the angels singing hallelujiah?*

I called Dear Houston following this call and he gave me the go-signal to buy. Yippee! I have wanted to buy one but if he says we'll pass up the chance of getting one, then I'd think I'd honor him although I'd be sulking for a few days heheh. But really there's a part of me that's hesitating because we know 450D costs quite much (although I'm paying with my blogging earnings). Nonetheless, I just wanted to have his approval to refuel my desire to buy a 450D. Lol.

I'll be picking mine after my shift ends and boy, I could hardly contain my excitement. :-)

Taken in Sta Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu four years ago on a stormy day. We - hub and I- were at the back of our room, just enjoying the scene down below. The island is a perfect place to be if you want some quiet time by the beach. It still is my favorite holiday spot (Boracay comes second only). The weather is just unpredictable though - it was sunshine-y when we arrived in the island but the following day it was stormy.

Of Shades And Blinds

I was checking a Shutters Blog this afternoon and I was reminded of someone I know who loves blinds and shades. My brother – he is such a huge fan for blinds. In fact, when our wooden windows were changed to French windows, he purchased a couple of Vinyl Blinds for his room (which is now my sister's room). And he also offered to get shutters or blinds for me. But I simply declined. I was never too big on blinds –I guess I'm such an old school girl who loves to put up curtains and drapes on the windows.

But of course, I didn't realize that there could be lots of styles and designs of shutters and blinds. I thought then that everything was just of the same type. Of course I was wrong. Because over at this Shutters Blog, I saw samples of classic Roman Shades, basic Cellular Shades (either light filtering or room darkening purpose), practical Sun Shades (with openness factor* from 14% to 1%), charming Woven Wood Blinds, and a lot more. They also have Designer Roller Shades by Hunter Douglas. And while I was browsing through all these, I spotted this cool green Roller Shades with decorative hem that I would love to put up in our receiving room (you know how partial I am to shades of green). I think it's really neat.

So how about you, are you looking for some blinds? Do you want them cordlooped, cordless or remote-controlled? Check the Shutters Blog now. There are lots of styles and types of blinds and shutters there. It could also help you choose the right fabric and color for your blinds since you can request samples, too.

*The openness factor determines how much light comes in, how much heat protection, and the amount of UV protection.

Blogging Bones

Jus thought I'd drop a line. It's been sometime since I made a noise here. Unlike at Makimeji, I have not made autoposts while I was gone for a mini-vaca.

It's good to be back. I'm actually watching Bones (the series) while writing and bloghopping this morning. And can you believe that I like Bones -better than CSI? I'm already watching Episode 10. I have to admit I haven't really finished a single episode of CSI. Shucks, CSI fans would be upset. Sorry -and please don't throw rotten tomatoes on me. :-)

Bones is very CSI-ish only that I feel it's actually a cross between CSI and Criminal Minds (which I love, too). So while waiting for the airing new episodes of Heroes and Prison Break, here I am entertaining myself in the office by watching rotting cadavers and how a team of forensic anthropologists (and an FBI Agent) unravels the mystery behind the these human remains.

Clearer, Brighter Weekend

For the nth time, allow me to break my Wednesday silence.

Hmmm. Got to agree with you that I have a misleading title for this photo. Now it actually is its exact opposite. But God-willing, I'll be seeing a much clearer, a much brighter Pacific waters in the coming weekend. God-willing. I'm really crossing my fingers.

Now because of this upcoming trip, I might not be able to return the favor of visiting everyone however much I wanted to. But when I get back, i'll sure catch up with all of you. So til then. Have a blessed week!

Say Dockers

Do you love making videos?

If you are a legal resident of the USA and at least eighteen years of age, you are qualified to join the Dockers contest. To join, you have to create and submit a 30-second video commercial for Dockers.

During the submission phase, viewers may rate your video. Voting ends on May 29, 2008 at 11:59:59 PM. On June 1, the Sponsor will judge all eligible submissions and announce five finalists. The winning video for the Grand Prize, which the sponsor will announce between June 7 and June 13, 2008, may be shown during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. So what are you waiting for? If you are interested, grab your videocam now and start playing tricks with it.

To date, there are already a handful of videos that were submitted and uploaded for the Dockers contest. I have viewed most of these videos there including some videos which are not contest related such as this one. Anyway, among those posted, my favorite is the video entitled We Speak Your Language, which translates the word “pants” into different languages. I believe it has a fair chance in the contest. You may view the video here. at the NBC site.

Friday's Feast

What is the nearest big city to your home?
Davao City. I guess.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
Very well. Leaving 1 to some exceptions, maybe I'm a 9.

Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
I have a natural black and curly hair. But I had it rebonded so it's straight now, still black and about 3 to 4 inches below the shoulder.

Main Course

What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
All of these at different times. Bad, I know.

When was the last time you had a really bad week?
I haven't got a very good week this week (blame PMS) but I don't want to think that it's bad.

Tell Us What's Classic

If someone would ask my mother who she thinks embodies a classic fashion style, I’m sure she’d say: Jackie Onassis. She adores her. In fact, she named one of my sisters Jacqueline after Jackie O. Maybe I would think so too if I had been in “her time.” *smile*

But to me, it’s got to be Princess Diana. With her simple yet elegant dresses, I believe Princess Diana is an epitome of classic fashion style. Her critics would have said otherwise but I always think she has this cool sophistication in her. From intricate to simple designs, her gowns always enhanced her beauty. Sometimes I wonder if it’s her who becomes her gown or her gown becomes her. I only wish I could say the same to myself when I wear a gown, which could only happen once in a blue moon! *grin* Come to think of it, the last time I wore one was on my wedding day.

Now, I’m really not a dress/skirt-type of girl and I haven’t worn a dress in ages! Give me a good fitting jeans and a comfortable tee (never mind it’s the rattiest in the closet) and I’m ready to go. Jeans and tee ensemble just never goes out of style for me. Don’t you think that’s classic?

Hmmm? Classic? Not classic? Tell us. But you could tell us better what’s classic for you by making a 30-second video advertisement for Dockers and joining the Dockers contest. Who knows you might just win the Dockers contest and get to see your very own ads shown during the broadcast of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC.

The Vantage Point

I had the chance to watch Vantage Point, which stars Dennnis Quaid, a couple of weeks or so ago in the office. (C’mon… Please don't ask me why I was able to watch it in the office. Wink.)

Although I enjoyed it, I really wasn't too impressed with the story. The plot, which revolves around the assassination attempt of the US President while attending a summit in Spain, was promising but I just am not convinced with some of the scenes. Okay it’s just a movie but aren’t scenes in the movies supposed to look convincing? Aren’t they supposed to get the audience involved in the characters? It didn’t happen to me though.

My favorite charming blunder is the “he-doesn't-even-look-like-me" double of the President. It’s actually a line I’ll always remember and associate with the movie – although I believe it’s a line to reinforce the existence of a body double. But indeed, the double doesn’t look like the president. at. all. Not an iota.
To me, it’s ridiculous to get a double that doesn’t look exactly like the President (in the story). They could have at least attempted to make the double look like the President. Ever heard of prosthetics? But I can see there was none of that.

But in the end, I had to accede that it was cleverly done. You won’t miss what the story is all about as the movie replays relevant scenes at a different perspective or vantage points. (For awhile there, during the second replay or perspective, I had the fleeting thought that I must have mistakenly pressed a rewind button or that I had a not working copy.)

Dreadful Notebook

After the repeat of Nightmare Awards, guess what I’m getting? Death Note! Waaaaaa! I’m only a nice girl who only loves to blog and then I get this? What’s going on?

Okay, okay it’s not a death note for me and I haven't experienced anything supernatural so far.

But it’s the DeathNote the movie that I meant. Based on the hit supernatural action-mystery manga, Death Note is an offering from NCM Fathom and Viz Pictures to horror-movie fans out there. It is about a notebook which a Shinigami death god named Ryuk dropped and which a student named Light Yagami found and vowed to use to rid the world of evil as any human whose name is written on it eventually dies.
Interested already? It will be available in selected US movie theatres on May 20th and 21st. Purchase of tickets maybe done online –by providing your zip code. Go check it out.

It's Already A Long Break

Where have they all gone to? I have been waiting for long for Wentworth Miller and the rest of gang from PrisonBreak to grace the screen again.

The last episode before the hiatus got me biting my nails - with anticipation of what's about to come next and of denial that it was the last episode of Season 3. What a short Season it was and I don't want to think that it's because the viewers are already bored. But though it's a downhill trend for PB in terms of viewers, starting with 12.1M in Season 1 down to 8.2 in Season 3, I'm still dying to find out why Mahone, Whistler and Susan are now together. What are they up to? What's going on?

The wait is making me restless and I already miss Went so much. You see, I go gaga over Went -and my Houston knows about this. It's really a teenage crush of sorts, only that I'm already in the thirties. (Is there such a thing like a thirties crush?)

I heard they will be back in September. It's a long wait then and I hope the new episodes are all worth the wait. Promise me, Went?

But while the PB gang is still on hiatus, I've checked Criminal Minds. After finishing Season 1, I'm hooked. I have yet to see Season 2 and 3 episodes which I already saved to make the long wait of PB bearable.

My Nightmare Award

Advisory: Please do not click any of the links or images if you are not ready to see the trailer or images of a scary movie.

I really haven’t been here in awhile (okay, a couple of days or so are already “awhile’ to me). All of my recent posts are product of Blogger’s autoposting.

So when I opened my mail today and saw this reservation for The Nightmare Awards, I was surprised because I have already done this before. But really, “surprise’ was an understatement. It’s more than that. I really wanted to say, what a nightmare! the Trailer of this unrated and controversial movie, the Frontiers(S), all over again –which I did. All that blood. All the gory. Gruesome. What torture! And as I’ve said in my previous Frontier(s) post, I’m not much of a horror flick fan and for very obvious reason. *hiding under the blanket* But I have friends who are big fans of Horror Movies. Yikes!

I have not seen a poster of this around here but this has been shown in selected US theaters starting on May 9. You may check select theater listings, too. Its DVD copy is also already available starting May 13. So if you want to watch this film in the comforts of your home, go and pick up a copy now.

LP: Mahal Na Ina (Mama)

They say nothing beats a mother's love and care. True. I agree. And that's why I chose this shot even if this was already published at Makimeji. It took time to get this done but this is all worth the wait.

Loans And Credit Cards

I really marvel at the fact that, these days, getting a credit card is already a no-fuss affair. Almost anyone can get them, The same is true for loans. And getting them are faster and easier nowadays compared to how it was in the previous years.

Take for example in our office. I have repeatedly received calls from a number of telemarketers who offer pre-approved credit cards. And despite my repeated refusal, they have become more persistent in the next call while offering all sort of enticement - ready-to-use cash, insurance, free grocery and others.

So with all this, I am not surprised that there are companies that will give everyone, even those with less-than-perfect credit rating, a chance to have a loan or a credit card. One of these companies is which offers Bad Credit credit cards, Bad Credit loans such as home, personal and auto loans, among others.

An Excerpt Of My Pants Story

Last year, I had written a post entitled The Pants (War) Story. It’s about the shift in pants style.

Here's an excerpt of my previous post:

I detected few pairs of Skinnies strutting around town. Just a few of them that you could count them by ticking off your fingers. But although there were just few of them, you couldn't miss noticing their attempt to knock the Flared-sies over their firm perch on the fashion ground. They were throwing off stones, shooting arrows, firing water guns, stomping their feet and stepping on toes firmly rooted to the ground.

Comparatively, if Flared-sies were Goliath, then Skinnies were David, feebly trying to topple a giant.
Skinnies, persistently trying: "You just wait! When our time comes, it will be a riot!"

Animosity was unmistakably high in the air. But of course, it's not the first time that Skinnies showed up their gorgeous heads, err legs. They've been here before, they graced the fashion ramp, walked all the streets of the globe. Until their time came, a time when they eventually lost their appeal to the fashion gurus. A sad time when they would have to be shelved back
to old cabinets and bauls…

This story was inspired after I bought myself a not-yet-trendy pants that fit perfectly like a second skin. It’s one of those Skinnies, actually my first since the resurrection of Skinnies and it has, though not a Dockers, been my favorite friend.

If you have a pants story to tell, you might want to make a video out of it and submit it to the Dockers contest.

Autoposting In Blogger

Isn't it a great news! Autoposting is now possible in Blogger.

Whew, at last! It's here. I truly am so happy with this improvement with Blogger.

Although I had a tough time using WP at the start, I have learned to appreciate WP more because, first and foremost, of the autoposting feature. This is one of my favorite perks with WP and I use it all the time at Makimeji.
But now, it's just great to have it with Blogger too. I have tested it and right now, I am using it to post this entry.

SocialSpark Is Here Now

Just last month, I was invited to try out the beta version of Social Spark. For some reasons, this invitation had slipped out of my mind and so I didn’t respond to it. After awhile I got the same invitation again, only that this time, the offer is already open for everyone.

So far, I have liked it there. I’m still learning the system since I’m still new but I am having fun. I have made some friends there. Unlike other social communities, SocialSpark gives you an opportunity to take on paid posts. Not only that, you could even get connected with the advertisers themselves. It’s really a promising venue for everyone, bloggers and advertisers alike.

The feedback system is just good, too. If you are not sure whether to take up an opportunity, you may read the comment section and find out what other bloggers think about the opps. And you can give a prop or a thumbs up to blogs or bloggers or users, if you like them; a drop or thumbs down, if you don’t. Every profile has a message board, too and your friends –or anyone can easily post their comments for you.

To see what it a SocialSpark profile is like, check my profile with them. You can see some of my friends here, who has recently viewed me and the recent opps I have taken , among other details provided.

Be Prepared for Ken Lee

I really would have forgotten all about this if not for my son who, for unknown reason, constantly reminds me of this by singing Ken Lee everytime the Pinoy Idol ads is flashed on TV. Okay, I am partly to be blamed because Matt was sitting beside me when I viewed it weeks ago. But how was I to know that he'd remember it and associate it with Pinoy Idol?

Sorry my boy for underestimating you.

So Ken Lee be it... And with 5M viewers? Woot! Heheh.

But speaking of viewers, I'm going to leave you the video of the JailDancers dancing to Michael Jackson's hit, Thriller. I am so entertained with this vid. And it does look like they had fun doing it, too -maybe momentarily forgetting their conditions. But don't you agree that everyone - even prisoners- is entitled to have some fun, clean fun, too?

Frontier(S) Uncut And Unrated

VERB Advisory: I advise everyone reading this now to please bear in mind that what you will be seeing is a trailer of a horror movie and some of the images as well. So unless you are ready to watch it, please don’t click any of the links. If you have a child with you, please exercise caution.

This morning, I have seen the Trailer of the unrated and controversial movie Frontier(S). It’s so gruesome to me. No kidding, I mean it’s maddeningly scary. So over the edge. With all the blood, it IS just gross. But then scary movie is not really my cup of tea. However, most of my friends in the office love to watch horror movies. When they would invite me to watch this kind of films and I decline, I do get a good ribbing sometimes. It’s nothing offensive though and I don’t mind.

It’s not yet shown in my place. But for US residents, you may check if the theater near where you live is one of the selected theaters to show this film on May 9. But if you’d like to bring horror viewing to the next level and watch this film in the comforts of your home, pick up an unrated and uncut copy of the Frontier(s). The DVD copy will be available on May 13th.

Meme Monday

I saw this Mommy Meme at Pam's and thought to give it a go.

Baby's Name?

November 2005

Where was he/she born?
Polymedic Hospital

What time was he/she born?
5:27 PM

Weight/length at birth?
I forgot- and I'm not proud with that. Must have been 5 lb-ish.

Age as you're typing this survey:

Are you a paranoid mom...?
All the time

Do you sterilize everything (like boil nipples or wash every toy)?
Yes - until he reached 1 year plus. (See previous answer)

Do you buy "sensitive skin" wipes because they're "better" for baby's skin?
No. I rarely use wipes. I use cotton and water.

Do you worry that your baby will stop breathing in his/her sleep?
Not now. But there was a time when he was just an infant...

Do you freak out if they happen to doze off during tummy time? (SIDS!!)
Not now. But sometimes, sometime ago.

Do you overdress your baby, whether it's warm or cold?

Do you wash your baby's clothing in Dreft or other baby detergent?
No. For a couple of years, no one could touch his soiled clothings but my mom and me (and hub - when he's home). Now, we sometimes let the cleaners do some of his soiled clothes.

Do you refuse to dress baby in anything with buttons (choking hazard)?
Not now.

Do you watch (and critique) when someone else changes baby's diaper?
No. Ah, yes. Few times when hubby did the changing.

Did you buy all of their furniture (crib, changing table, stroller) NEW?
Yes. Except the stroller-we didn't buy one.

Do you have to wash a pacifier that fell on the floor before giving to baby?
I didn't gave him any pacifier.

Do you worry about anyone else holding your baby?
Yes especially those who are not members of the family.

When you leave baby with a sitter, is all you do worry about baby?
I'm blessed I have my parents as sitters. I would have worried myself sick if it had been other people.

Do you jump out of bed the second baby starts fussing during the night?
When Matt starts coughing, yes. Because he's got asthma.

Do you worry about making baby bleed when clipping his/her fingernails?
No. I mastered this art :-)

Do you call your pediatrician at least once a week?
No. But there are times I wish I could.

Do you cancel playdates because your baby has a runny nose and coughed once?
No playdates for us. So sad.

Do you refuse to go shopping without a shopping cart cover?
No. I do not have one.

If you have a cat, do you worry about toxoplasmosis?
I used to. Gotten over it, thanks God.

Is your baby allowed anywhere near your pets?
No. Because he is asthmatic. But sometimes he can get as near as a couple of feet (with someone holding him) - but I have a no-touching policy with him. Am I so bad?

Do you only feed your baby organic baby foods out of fear of preservatives?
Yes, most of the times. I want to stick to healthy and organic foods but I learned to make concessions.

Do you think you are or ever have been a paranoid new mom?
Yes! There's no denying about that.

A Treat For All Of You 24 Fans

If I’m going to say how impatient I already am from waiting for the next season of Prison Break, I know 24 and Jack Bauer fans will give me “an eyebrow lift.” September may be too long for me but I can only imagine how Jack Bauer’s fans must be feeling with 24’s January 2009 return schedule.
January 2009?!?

But take heart, all of you 24 fans. Before we know it, it will be 2009. Besides, if you can’t wait until next year, there’s The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction, which Degree Men ® has offered for your viewing pleasure.

The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction is a series of digital episodes which chronicle the adventures of American Counter Terrorism agent, Jason Blaine as he tries to rescue his boss who’s unexpectedly kidnapped in Mexico City. Directed by Rodney Charters, ASC, CSC, who also directed episodes of 24, The Rookie: Day 3 Extraction has all the fast-paced, heart-pounding trademark of 24.

I've seen it. And oh yeah, I must agree it's very 24-ish. Even the emotions elicited from me was very 24-ish. Just watching Episode 1 with Blaine discovering his boss gone and then seeing vehicles flee feels very 24-ish. I was holding my breath and my heart was pounding a crazy beat that somehow echoed the ticking of that clock.

So will the Rookie prevail? Watch Blaine race against time, in a true 24 fashion in these action packed webisodes available in YouTube.

Lotsa Stuff

A week ago, I received a package that contained these wonderful treasures - which include a tote bag, a journal and a pen. It's a giftpack that I won from Regina's contest few months ago.

I shared these with my mother and she is already reading the In The Secret Place With God now. On the one hand, I have the Book Of Promises in my bag and carry it to work. It's a lovely book and one time I read it while stuck in traffic.

Thanks so much Regina!

Also, I received a copy of the Divine Appointment from Sonya. I haven't read it yet because I'm still reviewing for a proficiency test but once done, I'll tackle it next. Thanks Sonya.

What was your favorite cartoon when you were a child?
Mickey Mouse

Pretend you are about to get a new pet. Which animal would you pick, and what would you name it?
A bunny. And I'll call it Burgh. For some reason I cannot grasp, that's what came to my mind first. Hehe.

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how much do you enjoy getting all dressed up for a special occasion?
8. Depends on what occasion and sometimes it depends on my mood.

Main Course

What kind of music do you listen to while you drive?
Any... We have Don Moen in our player but sometimes, it doesn't play because our player is a lunatic of sorts. Lol

When was the last time you bought a clock? And in which room did you put it?
Seven years ago. Or it must be 8. I was still in another town and I was living alone. I kept it in my room until it was time to move.

LP: Malungkot

Translation: I've already posted this pic in one of my WW posts (titled Reality) but I decided to post this again because I believe this is one of the sad truths in this country. It's a usual sight in majority of the sea ports here but this one, I took (using of my cam phone) while we were docking in Cebu port.

More of the story here.
