Clearer, Brighter Weekend

Photobucket

For the nth time, allow me to break my Wednesday silence.

Hmmm. Got to agree with you that I have a misleading title for this photo. Now it actually is its exact opposite. But God-willing, I'll be seeing a much clearer, a much brighter Pacific waters in the coming weekend. God-willing. I'm really crossing my fingers.

Now because of this upcoming trip, I might not be able to return the favor of visiting everyone however much I wanted to. But when I get back, i'll sure catch up with all of you. So til then. Have a blessed week!

Say Dockers

Do you love making videos?

If you are a legal resident of the USA and at least eighteen years of age, you are qualified to join the Dockers contest. To join, you have to create and submit a 30-second video commercial for Dockers.

During the submission phase, viewers may rate your video. Voting ends on May 29, 2008 at 11:59:59 PM. On June 1, the Sponsor will judge all eligible submissions and announce five finalists. The winning video for the Grand Prize, which the sponsor will announce between June 7 and June 13, 2008, may be shown during the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. So what are you waiting for? If you are interested, grab your videocam now and start playing tricks with it.

240x180

To date, there are already a handful of videos that were submitted and uploaded for the Dockers contest. I have viewed most of these videos there including some videos which are not contest related such as this one. Anyway, among those posted, my favorite is the video entitled We Speak Your Language, which translates the word “pants” into different languages. I believe it has a fair chance in the contest. You may view the video here. at the NBC site.

Friday's Feast

Appetizer

What is the nearest big city to your home?
Davao City. I guess.

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
Very well. Leaving 1 to some exceptions, maybe I'm a 9.

Salad

Describe your hair (color, texture, length).
I have a natural black and curly hair. But I had it rebonded so it's straight now, still black and about 3 to 4 inches below the shoulder.

Main Course

What kind of driver are you? Courteous? Aggressive? Slow?
All of these at different times. Bad, I know.

Dessert

When was the last time you had a really bad week?
I haven't got a very good week this week (blame PMS) but I don't want to think that it's bad.

Tell Us What's Classic

If someone would ask my mother who she thinks embodies a classic fashion style, I’m sure she’d say: Jackie Onassis. She adores her. In fact, she named one of my sisters Jacqueline after Jackie O. Maybe I would think so too if I had been in “her time.” *smile*

But to me, it’s got to be Princess Diana. With her simple yet elegant dresses, I believe Princess Diana is an epitome of classic fashion style. Her critics would have said otherwise but I always think she has this cool sophistication in her. From intricate to simple designs, her gowns always enhanced her beauty. Sometimes I wonder if it’s her who becomes her gown or her gown becomes her. I only wish I could say the same to myself when I wear a gown, which could only happen once in a blue moon! *grin* Come to think of it, the last time I wore one was on my wedding day.

Now, I’m really not a dress/skirt-type of girl and I haven’t worn a dress in ages! Give me a good fitting jeans and a comfortable tee (never mind it’s the rattiest in the closet) and I’m ready to go. Jeans and tee ensemble just never goes out of style for me. Don’t you think that’s classic?
75x75

Hmmm? Classic? Not classic? Tell us. But you could tell us better what’s classic for you by making a 30-second video advertisement for Dockers and joining the Dockers contest. Who knows you might just win the Dockers contest and get to see your very own ads shown during the broadcast of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on NBC.

Of Shades And Blinds

I was checking a Shutters Blog this afternoon and I was reminded of someone I know who loves blinds and shades. My brother – he is such a huge fan for blinds. In fact, when our wooden windows were changed to French windows, he purchased a couple of Vinyl Blinds for his room (which is now my sister's room). And he also offered to get shutters or blinds for me. But I simply declined. I was never too big on blinds –I guess I'm such an old school girl who loves to put up curtains and drapes on the windows.

But of course, I didn't realize that there could be lots of styles and designs of shutters and blinds. I thought then that everything was just of the same type. Of course I was wrong. Because over at this Shutters Blog, I saw samples of classic Roman Shades, basic Cellular Shades (either light filtering or room darkening purpose), practical Sun Shades (with openness factor* from 14% to 1%), charming Woven Wood Blinds, and a lot more. They also have Designer Roller Shades by Hunter Douglas. And while I was browsing through all these, I spotted this cool green Roller Shades with decorative hem that I would love to put up in our receiving room (you know how partial I am to shades of green). I think it's really neat.

So how about you, are you looking for some blinds? Do you want them cordlooped, cordless or remote-controlled? Check the Shutters Blog now. There are lots of styles and types of blinds and shutters there. It could also help you choose the right fabric and color for your blinds since you can request samples, too.

*The openness factor determines how much light comes in, how much heat protection, and the amount of UV protection.

The Vantage Point

I had the chance to watch Vantage Point, which stars Dennnis Quaid, a couple of weeks or so ago in the office. (C’mon… Please don't ask me why I was able to watch it in the office. Wink.)

Although I enjoyed it, I really wasn't too impressed with the story. The plot, which revolves around the assassination attempt of the US President while attending a summit in Spain, was promising but I just am not convinced with some of the scenes. Okay it’s just a movie but aren’t scenes in the movies supposed to look convincing? Aren’t they supposed to get the audience involved in the characters? It didn’t happen to me though.

My favorite charming blunder is the “he-doesn't-even-look-like-me" double of the President. It’s actually a line I’ll always remember and associate with the movie – although I believe it’s a line to reinforce the existence of a body double. But indeed, the double doesn’t look like the president. at. all. Not an iota.
To me, it’s ridiculous to get a double that doesn’t look exactly like the President (in the story). They could have at least attempted to make the double look like the President. Ever heard of prosthetics? But I can see there was none of that.

But in the end, I had to accede that it was cleverly done. You won’t miss what the story is all about as the movie replays relevant scenes at a different perspective or vantage points. (For awhile there, during the second replay or perspective, I had the fleeting thought that I must have mistakenly pressed a rewind button or that I had a not working copy.)

Dreadful Notebook

After the repeat of Nightmare Awards, guess what I’m getting? Death Note! Waaaaaa! I’m only a nice girl who only loves to blog and then I get this? What’s going on?

Okay, okay it’s not a death note for me and I haven't experienced anything supernatural so far.

But it’s the DeathNote the movie that I meant. Based on the hit supernatural action-mystery manga, Death Note is an offering from NCM Fathom and Viz Pictures to horror-movie fans out there. It is about a notebook which a Shinigami death god named Ryuk dropped and which a student named Light Yagami found and vowed to use to rid the world of evil as any human whose name is written on it eventually dies.
Unknown
Interested already? It will be available in selected US movie theatres on May 20th and 21st. Purchase of tickets maybe done online –by providing your zip code. Go check it out.

It's Already A Long Break

Where have they all gone to? I have been waiting for long for Wentworth Miller and the rest of gang from PrisonBreak to grace the screen again.

The last episode before the hiatus got me biting my nails - with anticipation of what's about to come next and of denial that it was the last episode of Season 3. What a short Season it was and I don't want to think that it's because the viewers are already bored. But though it's a downhill trend for PB in terms of viewers, starting with 12.1M in Season 1 down to 8.2 in Season 3, I'm still dying to find out why Mahone, Whistler and Susan are now together. What are they up to? What's going on?

The wait is making me restless and I already miss Went so much. You see, I go gaga over Went -and my Houston knows about this. It's really a teenage crush of sorts, only that I'm already in the thirties. (Is there such a thing like a thirties crush?)

I heard they will be back in September. It's a long wait then and I hope the new episodes are all worth the wait. Promise me, Went?

But while the PB gang is still on hiatus, I've checked Criminal Minds. After finishing Season 1, I'm hooked. I have yet to see Season 2 and 3 episodes which I already saved to make the long wait of PB bearable.

My Nightmare Award

Advisory: Please do not click any of the links or images if you are not ready to see the trailer or images of a scary movie.

I really haven’t been here in awhile (okay, a couple of days or so are already “awhile’ to me). All of my recent posts are product of Blogger’s autoposting.

So when I opened my mail today and saw this reservation for The Nightmare Awards, I was surprised because I have already done this before. But really, “surprise’ was an understatement. It’s more than that. I really wanted to say, what a nightmare! Because.it.would.mean.that.I.have.to.watch the Trailer of this unrated and controversial movie, the Frontiers(S), all over again –which I did. All that blood. All the gory. Gruesome. What torture! And as I’ve said in my previous Frontier(s) post, I’m not much of a horror flick fan and for very obvious reason. *hiding under the blanket* But I have friends who are big fans of Horror Movies. Yikes!

I have not seen a poster of this around here but this has been shown in selected US theaters starting on May 9. You may check select theater listings, too. Its DVD copy is also already available starting May 13. So if you want to watch this film in the comforts of your home, go and pick up a copy now.
