Many things have happened in between.

One, I already reclaimed the PR3 pagerank of this site. Yahooo!

Second, I already delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Hallelujiah! We all adore her.

Third, while I was on the hospital, I had the chance of watching a not-too-old movie entitled 21. After Avatar, I haven't got the time to stay long on the PC or TV to watch movies so it was a welcome change to sit back and watch a movie while recuperating from the delivery. I so enjoyed the movie.

BTW, 21 is about an MIT student who dreams of getting into Harvard Medical School, but doesn't have the money to finance it. In a stroke of luck, he impressed one of professors who invited him to join a group of students whom he secretly "trained" to become card counting experts to beat the casinos. According to Wiki, the film, directed by Robert Luketic, was inspired by the story of the MIT Blackjack Team.

For me, it was exciting to see these smart students having a "double life." I haven't played casino games, not even in an online casino, in my entire life and so I am totally, totally thrilled to see the group's success at the casinos. I don't understand the game but I am amazed at the card-counting techniques they use to win in the blackjack games. In a scale of 1 to 5, I rate the movie with a 4. And that said, I am tempted to try some casino softwares and learn to play blackjack so I can at least get the idea of what the blackjack team was doing. *smiles*

21

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com44tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-34426345622085297072010-03-15T16:27:00.000+09:002010-03-15T17:27:12.578+09:00Again!
The Clottey-Pacquiao fight at the Dallas Stadium yesterday was plain and simple boring. Had Clottey decided to fight all-out, it would have been unpredictable. But he did not. So the win was easy and predictable.

Congrats Manny!

Still about Manny Pacquiao, I chanced upon this article written by Andrew Corsello of the GQ Magazine. It's awesome as the subject himself. And not only did it profile Manny Pacquiao and his "clashing" traits but the Filipino as well. It's really thorough and well-written. Here it is.

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-57257432754174614542010-02-01T08:47:00.001+09:002010-02-03T08:56:47.839+09:00Dancing Inmates: This Is It
For sometime now, I've always followed the performances of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) inmates. After each viewing, albeit online only, I always feel a sense of awe. I mean who would have thought inmates could be so moving in a performance. And who could have thought it's possible to get inmates to perform and get worldwide coverage for their performances (none but Byron Garcia, the CPDRC Warden! And his efforts are really commendable).

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoy their latest performance. I only hope I could pewrsonally see them perform one of these days. Without much ado, here are the inmates with their This Is It (MJackson) performance. I do count myself lucky for the chance to watch this beautiful movie, although not in the moviehouse (where the 3D effects will be much appreciated). I watched it in the office while keeping my watch of our network (there wasn't so much going on during my shift so I had the time).

Avatar is a movie written and directed by James Cameron, one of the driving forces behind blockbuster movies such as Titanic, Terminator, Aliens, etc.. The plot is all about a paraplegic who was sent to an extraordinary mission in a place called Pandora. In an uncanny twist of fate, he falls inlove with the place and its people and is "torn between following his orders and protecting the world he feels is his home.” ( Imdb.com) The movie Avatar stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver.

From start to finish, I must say I was "taken along" in the story. I love everything about it-the special effects, the plot and its subtle message about taking care of the environment (or was it only me who thinks there's a hint of that message there?*smile*). Overall, I give it a double thumbs up.

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-23670790216488530212009-10-10T05:37:00.001+09:002009-10-10T06:39:32.093+09:00Saturday 9: Lie to MeSaturday 9: Lie to Me

After a long while, I've decided to update my blog and participate to Saturday 9 again. =D

1. Toxic, toxic, toxic...I rarely watch the news myself but some members of my family always do. And sometimes, I couldn't shield my son from these toxic information.

A couple of days ago, when I came home from work, my son declared:

Mama, *pointing at himself* I am Hayden Kho and you *pointing at me* are Katrina.

Jeezus!

He was in my arms while he said this and I swear I'd have dropped him then, if I were not sitting.

*the names mentioned are two people involved in a sex scandal in my country*

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-68561825748622244622009-05-06T00:07:00.002+09:002009-05-06T01:06:40.365+09:00Advance Happy Mother's Day
The country is still celebrating Pacquiao’s big win last Sunday. The print and broadcast media (and the blogging community too) are all talking about him. But why not. Pacman is one big newsmaker indeed and he always makes the Filipinos happy with his conquests in the boxing arena. I can just imagine how jubilant his family must be with this recent victory. I bet Aling Dionisia must be the proudest and happiest mother in Las Vegas these days. The victory must have been an advance Mother’s Day gift to her. *grin*

Now speaking of Mother’s Day, I’m so stumped as to what I’m going to give my mother this weekend. I surely am no Pacquiao in terms of wealth (and strength) but I’d also like to give “something” to my mother on Mother’s Day. The only thing is, I still don’t know what that “something” would be. *smile* I’m actually deciding whether to buy her a gift myself or to give her the resources to buy herself a gift. But I'm leaning on the latter.

Now how about you, what are you giving your mother (or the mother of your kids) on Mother’s Day? Are you picking up a book for her? Or a new car perhaps? Jewelry?

For those of you who are looking into jewelry gift items, Gemz N Gold, a designer and manufacturer of high quality jewelry in California USA has a wide collection of eye-catching designs that will surely capture every woman's heart. So why not say Happy Mother's Day with these diamond-studded pieces?

I'd have given my mother one of these too if only she's fond of jewelry (but she's not). I know others are already posting about this very same topic but being a big Pacquiao fan, I can't help but blog about the Pacman-Hatton that has just recently concluded (like a couple of minutes ago! hehe).

It all seemed unreal but at Round 2, Pacman cleverly and officially brought Hatton down! *big grin*

I was honestly surprised as I had high expectations of Hatton prior to the fight. But sadly, he didn't deliver the punches that I (and maybe Pacman) had expected. His lack of performance was really unexpected and that at the early part of the fight, somehow I already knew who'd win it.

But what a win! Congrats to Pacquiao and his team.

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-1269572736192344002009-04-23T09:37:00.001+09:002009-04-23T09:37:00.171+09:00So so Love X-men Origins: Wolverine
On with my movie exploits (what a term! To be honest, I've seen only a few but with my busy sked the count is pretty surprising to me), I forgot to mention this before but I just have to blog that I've seen the leaked copy of X-men Origins: Wolverine earlier this month (okay, who didn't?).

Okay, I don't intend to make a spoiler post but lemme just say that I totally, totally love it that I would love to see it again on the Silverscreen. If you've not seen it, I believe it's better to see it on the big screen.

I wonder when it will hit the movie theaters here but I'll wait as I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Although I think the beginning of the movie is a bit interesting, as the film rolled, I went "ah ok" all the while disappointment slowly crept in. Among other things, the car chase scenes in Moscow are pretty dragging and should have been cut. Every mother should watch this one. I love the story, setting and costumes - although I can't help but notice that Christine Collins (Angelina) wore the same coat after 5 or so years. A movie about love, hope, courage, friendship and motherhood, I think Changeling, based on a true story, is one of the brilliant movies Angelina has made.

Read the plot from here.

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-52451757750873964582009-03-29T23:07:00.000+09:002009-03-31T08:17:04.675+09:00She's Gotta Sue Her Dr
Have you seen Gretchen Barretto lately?

I've seen her full-length interview on the Sunday show the Buzz and I was surprised with her transformation.

To be honest, I'm not too fond of her but I've always thought she's got one of the beautiful faces in Philippine showbiz - until now. Looking at her on TV, she looked like she's aged plus 10 years. I don't know what's wrong but she just doesn't look pretty at all. Something was done to her face. It maybe botox for her cheeks/cheekbones to get that "bump" but it doesn't look great - and that is an understatement. I wonder where shed had "it" made.

Oh btw, I like the pumps that she used. And that is all <del>I liked.</del>

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-47037015168702260362009-03-26T08:57:00.000+09:002009-03-26T22:05:24.924+09:00Shopaholic - Not,! I Think
Despite being too busy these past few days, I was able to sneak a little time for myself to watch The Confession of a Shopaholic -in the office. *wink* Well actually I didn't initiate that - a colleague played it and so I watched. *hmmp, excuses!*

Anyway, it was a fun flick. Perfect for a day when you just want to relax -and the windmills in the head. The plot is not complicated -am sure had I watched it when I was in highschool, I would have appreciated it more. Not that I was a shopaholic in HS. But it's the plot, I'm talking about.

Anyway, although not totally, I can relate to the euphoria one gets when shopping. I understand the feeling of exhilaration going to the counter and paying and finally clutching the bag of goods in my hands. But I don't do that often.

Anyway, for fun I took this shopping test online and here's what it says about me (again I'm taking this just for fun, nothing more).

You Are a Discount Shopper

You love to get things as cheaply as possible. What time of day do you usually play Saturday 9?

Depends if I'm busy or not. Working or not. But usually I try to do it in the morning (although today I'm doing at at 10PM!).

2. At 9AM on a weekday, what are you doing?

Working.

3. At 9PM on any given night, what would you most like to be doing?

Sleeping. Or making my son sleep. *smile*

4. What is your most frequent activity online?

Blogging and reading blogs, the news or tutorials.

5. Is there one day of the week that seems to fly by? If yes, why?

When the hubster is home, the days seem to fly by!

6. Do you agree that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by?

I don't think that has something to do with age. For me, it has something to do with my activities. The clock seems to run faster when I'm too busy and pre-occupied to even check the time!

7. What is your favorite thing to do with free time?

Bum around. Sit and think of what to do next (ironic!).

8. How much time do you spend alone? Would you like it to be more? Less?

I haven't been alone for the longest time! With a kid at home, how can I be alone? *chuckle*
Would I like it to be more or less? I dunno. I'm sure I'd miss my son too much I'd end up crying rivers of tears (like what happened before when I was sent away for a company-sponsored training). But it's also good to really have few minutes just for myself every day.

9. If you could spend one hour doing something what would it be?

Shoot pictures (but an hour wouldn't be enough!)

ZAMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16117507631299077546noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24523639.post-20484779891672685762009-02-05T05:57:00.000+09:002009-02-05T08:18:43.226+09:00LP: Tsokolate

Paborito ko. Describe your first apartment.

It's a two-story wooden-concrete structure with a little veranda. I was living with 3 other girls.
