more love and acceptance

Chatted with a friend the other day and I was so crushed to learn that our common friend's baby has the DS. I know how devastated this common friend of ours must have been. I feel heavy in the heart too when I learned of this news.

But life has to go on.

I can only pray for strength for those parents who have kids with DS. Happiness and acceptance, for these kids.

I've read somewhere (maybe heard it too) that the most help we can give to these special kids with 47 chromosomes is to not stare at them. I hope we can give them that, plus our acceptance and prayers.

Don't forget how special kids with extra chromosomes are as well! Our niece was born with extra chromosomes. She is beautiful and every day is a complete blessing.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I don't think that merely not staring is appropriate. Treat the child like any normal child. They have feelings just like other "normal" kids. Since giving birth to a child with a birth defect I have learned to see all children with special needs in a very different light.
